MLB Rumors: Mets Stars Juan Soto Push for Blockbuster Trade to Land Sandy Alcantara
The New York Mets have started the 2025 season with impressive pitching, but their players are already advocating for a game-changing addition to their rotation. The Miami Marlins' ace, Sandy Alcantara, is a prime trade candidate, and the Mets seem eager to bring him to Queens.
Mets Stars Want Alcantara in New York
With trade rumors heating up, Mets superstar Juan Soto didn't hold back his excitement over the idea of acquiring the former Cy Young winner.
"It would be one of the best trades that we could have. I know we have great pitching here, but adding a Cy Young winner like that would be huge. It’s going to take a lot to get him," Soto said.
Francisco Lindor echoed that sentiment, comparing a potential Alcantara trade to the Mets' blockbuster signing of Soto himself.
"It would almost be like adding Soto. You add Soto, it’s going to help the team. You add Alcantara, and it’s going to help the team," Lindor stated.
Why the Mets Need Another Ace
The Mets received tough injury news earlier this week, as Sean Manaea suffered a setback that could keep him sidelined until late May. That leaves the current rotation featuring Clay Holmes, Tylor Megill, Griffin Canning, David Peterson, and Kodai Senga—a solid group, but one that would greatly benefit from Alcantara’s dominance.
A healthy Alcantara could make the Mets legitimate World Series contenders.
Alcantara’s 2025 Comeback Boosts His Trade Value
After missing all of 2024, the two-time All-Star is off to a strong start this season, allowing just five hits in his first two starts while racking up 11 strikeouts. Since 2020, he has posted a 3.14 ERA, making him one of the most consistent pitchers in baseball.
Adding Alcantara to the Mets' staff would transform their rotation. Once Manaea returns, the Mets could feature a powerhouse pitching staff of Alcantara, Manaea, Senga, Peterson, and Holmes—with Canning possibly sticking around as a sixth starter.
A Championship Window for the Mets?
With a dominant rotation, a deep bullpen, and an explosive lineup featuring Juan Soto, the Mets could be on the verge of true championship contention. It’s no surprise that their stars are pushing for a move—the front office just has to make it happen.
Will the Mets pull off a blockbuster trade for Sandy Alcantara? Stay tuned for the latest updates on this developing story.
