MLB Rumors: Chicago Cubs rumors indicate Days ago, Alex Bregman made his choice
Free agency speculations are rampant this season. Some folks seem to know more about the Alex Bregman sweepstakes than we do.
Alex Bregman, a two-time all-star, was a free agent this summer after playing for the Houston Astros for the first nine seasons of his career. According to reports, he turned down a six-year, $156 million contract from his previous team, signaling the end of his stint in Houston.
Bregman has been connected to the Boston Red Sox, Toronto Blue Jays, and Detroit Tigers throughout the winter, but according to latest speculations, the Chicago Cubs are the team most likely to acquire him. Indeed, it is possible that this has already occurred.
Alex Bregman had the option to decide to join the Cubs already.
Cubs Insider's Michael Canter claims that Alex Bregman has already decided to sign with the Chicago Cubs. According to Canter, the Cubs have reached an agreement with the third baseman on a contract through a relative who is close to the Bregman family.
The Cubs organization has clearly not confirmed anything, therefore it is currently just conjecture. According to Canter, Bregman's possible four-year contract is valued at over $100 million, and the specifics of the agreement are "unique." This would be a happy median since Bregman is allegedly looking for a long-term contract or a short-term contract with a high AAV.
The Chicago Cubs' lineup would be far more potent from a power perspective if they could sign Bregman. Chicago was in the running for the playoffs until the final weeks of the season, after finishing 10 games behind the Brewers in the NL Central the previous season. The Cubs might be playing important games in October if they sign Bregman.
