Dodgers Rumors: The Los Angeles Dodgers continue to bolster their roster by adding an MLB All-Star pitcher.
The Los Angeles Dodgers are determined to win the World Series again, and they are not slowing down.
Tanner Scott, a reliever, was signed by the Dodgers to a four-year, $72 million contract, according to Mark Feinsand of MLB.com. As has been the case with the majority of the Dodgers' offseason contracts, Scott will also earn a signing bonus and deferred money, according to Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic.
Scott had a strong 2024 campaign and was ranked by FanGraphs as the top reliever available and the 19th-best free agent. In his 71.3 innings between the Marlins and Padres, he recorded a 1.75 ERA and a 1.125 WHIP, striking out 84 batters and recording 22 saves.
Scott strengthens the Dodgers bullpen with yet another powerful arm. Over the last few innings, he will form a powerful combination with the freshly re-signed Blake Treinen and probable closer Michael Kopech.
The Dodgers have had an outstanding offseason, and Scott is just the newest addition. With only two pitchers throwing more than 100 innings or making at least 20 starts, Blake Snell and Roki Sasaki will strengthen a rotation.
Teoscar Hernandez, an outfielder, was re-signed by the Dodgers, and Michael Conforto was added. Hyeseong Kim, a Korean second baseman, inked a three-year contract, giving the infield intriguing possibility. Given that Spotrac estimates the Dodgers' salary to be above $374.5 million, these decisions have come at a cost.
Other doubts have been raised by the Dodgers' offseason. According to the New York Post's Jon Heyman, baseball suffers from the Dodgers' stellar roster. Eventually, those postponed contracts will be due. The Dodgers are working hard to assemble a strong squad that should contend for a title for many years to come, so those are questions for the future.
